No Jacket. The Very Good binding is green cloth over boards, guilt stamped cover including the illustration, guilt stamping on the spine, slight corner bumping, front cover has a
stain 2″ from bottom outer edge and center of top 1″ long, rear cover stain top center 1.5″ wide and long. Black illustrations on the end papers. Ink writing dated March 4, 1944 on the front free endpaper. The binding is tight and pages are clean. The illustrations are great, color and black-and-white illustrations, can be found throughout the book.

Kate Seredy (November 10, 1899 – March 7, 1975) was an American writer and illustrator of children’s books. She won the Newbery Medal once, the Newbery Honor twice, the Caldecott Honor once, and the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award. Most of her books were written in English, which was not her first language.
