Description
No Jacket. The Fine binding is marbled paper over over boards, dark blue cloth-backed, Hugh Thomson illustration on the cover, gilt stamping and black lettering on front cover, gilt stamping on the spine. The binding is tight and pages are clean. The front and rear endpapers have pen drawings by Hugh Thomson. The “1” is present on the number line on copyright page which is the designation of first of this edition. The illustrations are great with a full color frontispiece and other full page color illustrations plus some pen and ink illustrations. Fabulous illustrations by Hugh Thomson throughout.
About the illustrator:
Hugh Thomson RI (1 June 1860 – 7 May 1920) was an Irish Illustrator born at Coleraine near Derry. He is best known for his pen-and-ink illustrations of works by authors such as Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, and J. M. Barrie. Thomson inaugurated the Cranford School of illustration with the publication of the 1891 Macmillan reissue of Mrs. Gaskell’s Cranford. Wikipedia
