Description

No Jacket, a mylar dust jacket has been added. The Very Good+ binding is brown cloth over boards with black lettering, a pasted-on illustration by Cecil Aldin, top edge gilt, black imprint on back cover.  Front free endpaper has an ink stamp dated 1920 and a small tear on outer edge.  The binding is tight and pages are clean with some toning.  The Cecil Aldin illustrations are great with a mounted full color frontispiece and 2 other mounted color illustrations, black-and-white illustrations can be found throughout the book.

About the illustrator:
Cecil Charles Windsor Aldin (28 April 1870 – 6 January 1935), was a British artist and illustrator best known for his paintings and sketches of animals, sports, and rural life. Aldin executed village scenes and rural buildings. He was an enthusiastic sportsman and a Master of Fox Hounds, and many of his pictures illustrated hunting. Aldin’s early influences included Randolph Caldecott and John Leech. Wikipedia
