About the book (from the dust jacket)
LITTLE CHIEF MISCHIEF is the engaging tale of a naughty little boy with magical powers-a little boy who has problems with his parents, especially his mother. Many years ago, when the earth was very young, there was a beautiful tropical island in the Pacific where all the Menehune lived.
The Menehune (Menna-hooney) are the “little people” of Hawaii-and this is the story of Little Chief Mischief, the littlest of them all.
His father was a big chief-ruler of all the seas.
His mother was a chieftess-ruler of all the fire.
He was a little chief – called Mischief.
Mischief was the master painter of all the fish that lived in the bright blue seas of all the world. It was an honor to be the master painter, but although he was a good master painter that wasn’t enough for Mischief!
