About the book:

ONE of the happy events of childhood is one’s first introduction to A Child’s Garden of Verses. Through succeeding generations these poems continue to be part of the heritage of all American and English children. Stevenson’s memory of his own childhood never grew dim, and because he was a poet he was able to share with children the happiness and wonder of his early years. Tasha Tudor has loved these poems always and has now given us one of their loveliest interpretations. Through the pages of this volume she has portrayed the same dark-haired, bright- eyed small boy who might indeed be R.L.S.

About the author:

Robert Louis Stevenson (18501894)was a Scottish novelist, essayist, poet and travel writer. He is best known for works such as Treasure Island, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Kidnapped and A Child’s Garden of Verses.

About the illustrator:

Tasha Tudor (1915 – 2008) lived in New England her entire life. Her paintings of farm  life began before World War II with five small pocket size books about farm life of the past.  Her nostalgic lifestyle and pictures inspired world-wide admirers to want to live as Tasha lived. They envied the old New England landscape.  Tudor’s illustrations appear in 100 books. She painted what she knew and loved: antique furniture and clothing, dolls, corgi dogs, the Canton and pink luster dishes which she owned.
