JANETTE SEBRING LOWREY was born in Orange, Texas, and is a graduate of the University of Texas. Mrs. Lowrey, whose picture book POKY LITTLE PUPPY has become a classic, lives in San Antonio. She has written several books for children, among them two novels for older girls–LOVE, BID ME WELCOME and MARGARET. This is her first I CAN READ Book.

ROBERT QUACKENBUSH was born in Hollywood, California. A graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, he also studied at Pratt Institute and the New School in New York City. His art has been exhibited in leading museums throughout the country. Mr. Quackenbush has illustrated over thirty books, including BEFANA’S GIFT by Natalie Savage Carlson.
