About the book (from the dust jacket)
This unusual picture book follows the fickle weather of an early-winter week The narrator, like impatient children everywhere, wonders what the next day will bring.
On Sunday the wind comes, blowing leaves and kites through the air. Monday it rains. and the new-formed streams in the backyard are just right for sailing twig boats. Tuesday’s fog screens little hide-and-seekers, and Wednesday’s cold north wind turns the windowpanes into drawing boards. Then sleet, snow, and sun appear in turn, and each new day provides he narrator and his friends with opportunities for more fun.
Delicate, atmospheric watercolor paintings capture the mood, texture, and beauty of each type of weather, as the author introduces the young reader to simple meteorology. Text and art combine to offer an original, aesthetic reading experience.
