About the book: (from the dust jacket)
Once upon a time there was a little boy. He lived on a big plantation and was never so happy as when sitting at the knee of “Uncle Remus”, an old negro slave, listening to his tales of Mr. Cricket, Br’er Rabbit, Old Crancy Crow and dozens of other friends which Uncle Remus knew so well.

But years went by and the little boy grew to be a very big boy and no longer sat at Uncle Remus’ knee. The family moved to Atlanta and the happy days on the old plantation were almost forgotten. Then one day the grown-up little boy was married and once more the plantation echoed with the negroes guitar and the chants of the slaves as they worked in the cotton fields.

Soon there came another little boy –but very different from the first one. He was quiet and shy, made afraid by the pampering of in over fond mother. But no one could resist old Uncle Remus, for he know well how to make friends with little boys. And in this book you will find some of the tales which Uncle Remus told.
