WILLIAM H. HOOKS formerly director of publications for Bank Street College of Education, now devotes all of his time to writing. He is the author of over forty children’s books, including, for Macmillan, The Three Little Pigs and the Fox Association, and The Legend of the White Doe, illustrated by Dennis Nolan. The distinguished author lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

ANGELA TROTTA THOMAS is a free-lance illustrator with clients nationwide. Her paintings and prints hang in both corporate and private collections. A teacher as well as a student at Marywood College in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the artist became enamored of toy trains while writing a research paper entitled “Toy Train Art,” and is now working on a series of limited-edition toy train prints. She lives with her husband and their two children in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania.
