About the book (from the dust jacket)

The Foolish Bird, the creation of author-illustrator Henri Maïk, is endowed with human frailties. He struts about unaware that his companions can easily detect his state of mind by the color of his tail fathers. They turn red when he is greedy, yellow when he is jealous, and black when he lies. The story tells how he discovers and overcomes this embarrassing defect. Originally written in French, The Foolish Bird has lost none of its appeal in translation. It should charm children of all Ages.

About the author/illustrator (from the dust jacket)

Henri Maïk, born in Paris in I922, abandoned his career as an actor in 1955 to devote himself to painting. His work is to be found in many private collections and has been exhibited in Paris, Chicago, and New York. He is now busy with another children’s book.
