About the book (from the dust jacket)

Pongo and Missis, the two engaging Dalmatians of Dodie Smith’s Popular The Hundred and One Dalmatians, are back again with 9o of their relatives for a hilarious adventure that takes place during the dog days of summer. One morning when Pongo and Missis try to wake up their master and mistress, they discover that in all of England, only dogs can be awakened on that fateful day. Mysterious and astonishing happenings follow, such as the dogs learning to swoosh just above the ground -by thinking forward-moving thoughts. Missis takes to the wonderful new transportation immediately and even invents the high swoosh.

Why is this day enchanted? Every dog knows that it is, but no one knows why. When the secret is revealed at midnight, the dogs of the world must make the most difficult choice of their lives, and in doing so they prove that they are, indeed, man’s most devoted friends. Boys and girls everywhere will be entranced by this newest adventure of one of England’s and America’s largest and best-loved dog families
