One day, a passing stranger the slippers. But no sooner had he put them on than off he shot, tumbling and twisting over the countryside, unable to control his feet. When the stranger was at last rescued from the astonishing slippers, they were quickly stolen again. Soon the striding slippers were being passed from foot to foot as each greedy fellow who put them on discovered his mistake.
