About the author (from the dust jacket)
Allen Fannin is a designer, handspinner, and weaver who has gained a wide reputation for his contemporary contribution to the craft of handspinning. Through his investigation of commercial mill spinning operations, he has adapted many industrial processes to handspinning. Completely self-taught, Mr. Fannin brings a fresh viewpoint to the craft of spinning. He has lectured widely on the concept of yarn design in handspinning, which he originated. He inaugurated the first course in handspinning on a professional level at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in the summer of 1969. Mr. Fannin has also written numerous articles on spinning and weaving.
His work has been exhibited throughout the country and is found in several public and private collections. He and his wife have collaborated to produce many of these works, which include wall hangings and yardages as well as small items for retail sale.
