Description
The dust jacket is Very Good with slight furling at the top edge, not price-clipped. The book is in Very Good+ condition with, bronze paper-wrapped boards with a green cloth-backed spine. The boards feature decorative stamping repeated in interior text: no decorations on the rear cover. The spine has bright gilt lettering in excellent condition. The book contains an index of student authors and interviewees of the content of this book. The students were mostly tenth- and eleventh- graders at Eliot Wigginton High School in Georgia. The Foxfire series magazine was started in 1966 by Eliot and his English class students who began to compile oral histories they’d collected of Appalachian culture and lifeways. This book was put together in an unusual way. Most of the photographs were taken and printed by the students who had never touched a camera or seen the inside of a darkroom. The interviews with elderly residents were conducted and edited by students who had never interviewed anyone, transcribed tapes or written anything for purposes of publication.
